On Parliament’s first sitting day, Wednesday 3 July, Scott Morrison paid tribute to the late, legendary Labor Prime Minister Bob Hawke and announced the government will provide $5M to the General Sir John Monash Foundation to fund a perpetual scholarship in honour of this much-loved leader.
Amongst all the state of the art multi-media displays at the new Sir John Monash Centre at Villers-Bretonneux, visitors will notice on a pedestal a bronze bust of the great General. The sculpture of Sir John Monash was created by Melbourne-based artist Julie Edgar as a commissioned work for Mr Andrew Cannon AM, Honorary Consul to Monaco. Mr Cannon has donated the bust to the Centre to honour his grandfather Robert Henry Cannon, who served in France during the First World War.
On 14th March, Annemarie and Bianca made a visit to Graduate House, located in the heart of Melbourne University’s graduate precinct in Parkville. They were warmly welcomed by CEO/Head of College Dr Kerry Bennett, and led on a tour of the residential college.
