The John Monash Foundation celebrates our corporate partners, who share not only our mission to ensure opportunity for Australians but a commitment to the necessary skills in education and leadership these scholarships provide. 

BHP John Monash Scholarship

The John Monash Foundation and BHP have proudly been partners for over a decade. Since 2012, 14 BHP John Monash Scholarships have been awarded - an incredible 39 scholarship years, to Scholars from around Australia to study a variety of fields including infrastructure strategy, biodiversity, mathematics, physics, engineering, law and more.

Since 2022 BHP has also become a partner in the Leadership Academy, supporting ongoing leadership development and opportunities for all scholarship Fellows of the Leadership Academy. 

In 2024 BHP was the main corporate partner of the John Monash Leadership Speaker Series - a national tour of highly promoted and influential though leadership interviews reaching over 600 key stakeholders across events in 5 capital cities. 

Commonwealth Bank John Monash Scholarship

From the first awards in 2003, the General Sir John Monash Foundation has celebrated a fruitful partnership with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, enabling Australia's future leaders to achieve a post-graduate education at the world’s leading Universities. The Commonwealth Bank has supported the award of 12 Commonwealth Bank John Monash Scholarships, 35 scholarship years, across post-graduate studies including infrastructure strategy, de-carbonisation, smart cities and urban analytics, politics, marine ecology, mathematics and more. 

In addition to supporting the Commonwealth Bank John Monash scholarship, the commonwealth Bank hosts the John Monash Oration - a celebrated annual event featuring some of Australia's most influential and impactful leaders, interviewed by a John Monash Scholar. 

Speakers have included Dr Alan Finkle AC, Carol Schwartz AO, the Hon Mark Dreyfus KC MP and former Prime Minister Julia Gillard AC. 

Rio Tinto John Monash Scholarship

In 2022 Rio Tinto joined the Foundation as our first perpetual corporate scholarship supporter, enabling the inaugeral award of the Rio Tinto John Monash scholarship in 2023. We have two Rio Tinto John Monash scholars to date, Abi Rajkumar and Veronica Sebesfi. 

Wesfarmers John Monash scholarship

Wesfarmers has been our celebrated partner in the Wesfarmers John Monash scholarship for over a decade, with 5 Scholars, amounting to 13 years of scholarships being awarded to Australians to study PhD's and Masters degrees in a  variety of fields, including infectious diseases, engineering science, business, law and more.

In addition to supporting the Wesfarmers John Monash scholarship, Wesfarmers has been an ongoing valuable friend in Western Australia and assisted in our selection panels, hosting our Western Australian state panel.
