Final day of Leadership Induction program wraps up in Canberra
13 March 2024
The 2024 Scholar’s Leadership Induction program has now wrapped up. May Samali (2014 NSW Premier's John Monash Scholar) ran her second day of leadership workshops, honing in on how Scholars can use collaboration to generate new ideas and innovate effectively within a team.
“This week's Scholar Induction program, run by May Samali, has been fantastic. I am grateful to have such an inspiring, innovative and energetic community of leaders from which to learn,” says Veronica Sebesfi, 2024 Rio Tinto John Monash Scholar.
“General Sir John Monash was an original thinker, but was also highly collaborative, encouraging commanders underneath him to innovate and debate courses of action. I have found these values are embodied in the community of John Monash Scholars, and I look forward to working with many more Scholars in future.”
After the ceremony, hosted at Government House Canberra by His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Hurley, Scholars celebrated at a formal dinner with Foundation supporters, staff and Scholar alumni.
“The essential qualities of John Monash Scholars—leadership, academic excellence, and citizenship—are essential for all future leaders of Australia,” says Nicholas Felstead, 2024 Victorian Government John Monash Scholar.
“It has been an honour to attend the Canberra Presentation Ceremony this week with the cohort of 2024 Scholars, and I am excited to continue collaborating with and supporting this group of exceptional individuals along our career trajectories.”
Thank you to all those who attended this event, it was wonderful to bring together the Foundation’s extensive network of university supporters, corporate representatives, government officials, Scholar friends, family and alumni.
