The Foundation is delighted to have awarded a Life Membership to a long time supporter of the Foundation, The Honourable Professor Dame Marie Bashir AD CVO. The award was presented by Foundation Chairman, Jillian Segal AM at the Announcement of the 2018 John Monash Scholars on the 30th of November in Sydney. Dame Marie served as NSW Patron to the Foundation from the Foundation’s earliest days through to 2014. Dame Marie served on selection panels, hosted events, gave moving orations and fostered connections for the Foundation and Scholars. Her contribution to the Foundation has been invaluable.

After being presented with a gift from the Foundation, a rare print of General Sir John Monash himself produced especially by the National Gallery of Australia, Professor Dame Marie Bashir gave a response. In her moving speech, she addressed the 2018 John Monash Scholars on the proud legagcy they hold in baring the name ‘John Monash’ Scholar. We thank Professor Dame Marie Bashir for her extrodianry efforts and involvement with the General Sir John Monash Foundation.
