Congratulations Dylan Sherman
Congratulations Dylan Sherman, 2020 BHP John Monash Scholar, for being accepted into the CAS Future Leaders program awards! Dylan will join an elite group of early-career scientists, who will receive exclusive leadership training, networking opportunities across global science communities and much more. Founded in 1907, CAS is a division of the American Chemical Society, based in Columbus Ohio. They have offices in over 45 countries across the world.
Dr Alexandra Phelan, 2013 Pratt Foundation John Monash Scholar, worked 526 days straight when the first cases of COVID-19 were detected back in 2019. Listen to our podcast where she details her work in policy and law relating to infectious diseases, and how it led to her navigating the pandemic on behalf of governments and health agencies worldwide.
Sam Parker, 2022 Susan and Isaac Wakil John Monash Scholar has co-authored research which has been published in the Journal of Neural Engineering. The publication is entitled Concurrent stimulation and sensing bi-directional brain interfaces: a multi-site translational experience. Sam is currently completing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering (Brain Computer Interfaces) at Brown University in the USA.
Building gut from scratch
Dr Brendan Jones, 2019 Chairman’s Circle John Monash Scholar, has co-authored research which has been published in Nature Reviews – gastroenterology & hepatology. The publication is entitled Building gut from scratch – progress and update of intestinal tissue engineering. Brendan is in the process of completing his PhD in Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine at University College London this year.
Celebrating International Women's Day in Dubbo
The Exchange in Dubbo has hosted the 2022 Women’s Assembly this week, with a particular focus on the International Women’s Day theme #BreakTheBias. The Exchange is a community coworking space that was founded by 2013 BHP John Monash Scholar Jillian Kilby, who is actively working to support other regional-based entrepreneurs and business owners.
2022 Lee Liberman John Monash Scholar Milan Gandhi has been interviewed by Echo Chamber, a diversity first publication. Read the interview, which includes Milan’s personal journey towards embracing his own cultural identity. Milan will be travelling to France later this year as he embarks on his Scholarship at Sciences Po, where he will study a Master of Public Policy, with a focus on safeguarding the health of democracy in the digital age.

Andrew, who was recently appointed as the Acting CEO at the Centre for Policy Development (CPD), met Dr Isabel Hansen, CPD’s Sydney-based Senior Policy Advisor and the 2022 BHP John Monash Scholar when they both attended the CPD early childhood development workshop in Melbourne this week.
