2012 John Monash Scholar Madeline Gleeson named one of 2020's Young Women to Watch in International Affairs
Madeline Gleeson is currently Senior Research Associate at the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law at UNSW Law and whose human rights advocacy for vulnerable refugees has named her one of 2020's Young Women to Watch in International Affairs by Young Australians in International Affairs. Madeline also published her first book Offshore: Behind the Wire in Manus and Nauru, which won the 2017 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction.
2019 Roden Cutler NSW John Monash Scholar Freya Jansens wins systems mapping competitions at University of Oxford
Congratulations to Freya Jansen who is part of the winning team at the Global Opportunities Threats Oxford Climate Action Summit and Map the System. Both competitions are systems mapping competitions specially designed to challenge the next generation of business leaders to create practical solutions to the most complex global problems.
GOTO is a systems-thinking project at the University of Oxford, run by the Skoll Social Entrepreneurship Centre. Freya's winning team 'Team HEMP' presented on a sustainable business model for the fashion industry in the face of climate change.
Map the System is a global competition tackling social and environmental change with new and innovative thinking. Freya's team looked at modern slavery and violence against women in Papua New Guinea. They are planning to bring this to key Australian businesses to trace their supply chains and help map modern slavery.

2018 ANZAC Centenary John Monash Scholar Heather Muir writes on exponential growth of COVID-19 in The Cambridge Student
Heather is currently completing a PhD in Scientific Computing at the University Cambridge with the support of the John Monash Scholarship. Writing in The Cambridge Student, Heather helps break down the numbers and theory in the significant speech made by Germany's Prime Minister Angela Merkel on COVID-19's spread.
