We are proud to welcome the 2022 John Monash Scholars to our truly national scholarship program. This cohort, as always, are exceptional Australians whose range of expertise and great promise fill us with confidence that they will make profound contributions to a bright future for us all.
This year our Scholars have chosen several prestigious and world-renowned universities to complete their studies including Oxford, Harvard, Sciences Po, National University of Singapore, École de recherche graphique, Brussels and more.
This cohort also includes the first recipient of the Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO John Monash Scholarship which has been made possible through a gift from Tim Fairfax AC in honour of Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO, the first female Governor-General of Australia and an exemplar of great leadership.
The support of all John Monash Scholars would not be possible without the assistance of our governments, business, universities and individual philanthropists – the Foundation extends a warm thank you to all of those who provide our capacity for ensuring the next generation of Australia’s leaders.
Please visit our website to view the full biographies of our 2022 Scholar cohort and learn more about their chosen fields of study. New research published by Nature shows that COVID-19 can also present gastrointestinal symptoms. Dr Brendan Jones, 2019 Chairman's Circle John Monash Scholar is one of the key authors of this research which raises the question of whether the virus can replicate in the stomach. This research will be particularly valuable in understanding how COVID-19 effects children, who frequently show gastrointestinal symptoms for viral shedding which outlasts the clearance from the respiratory system.
