Huw is a water resource policy and management specialist. He currently works as a Principal at Aither, a leading Australian water economics and policy advisory firm, where he advises Australian state and federal government agencies, private enterprises and foreign governments. Huw is responsible for the development of Aither's international business and has worked on projects in the Philippines, Iran, Jordan, Senegal, Mexico, China and Uzbekistan. He led Aither's contribution to Australia's membership of the UN / World Bank High Level Panel on Water and is a co-author of WaterGuide, a practical guide for improved water resource policy and management in response to water scarcity. Huw holds an MPhil in Geography and the Environment (Distinction) from the University of Oxford, and a Master in Law, Governance and Development and Bachelor of Philosophy (Asian Studies) (Hons) from ANU. Huw's dissertation research analysed the political economy of China's South-North Water Transfer Project, the world's largest water infrastructure megaproject. Huw's findings have been published in the journals Global Environmental Change and Water Security. He is a co-founder of the Australia-China Youth Association and, prior to moving to Oxford, worked for Asialink (University of Melbourne), where he contributed to the landmark report 'Developing an Asia Capable Workforce' and the successful lobbying of the Australian Government to secure a major investment in Asialink Business. Huw has been awarded numerous scholarships, including by the General Sir John Monash Foundation, the Australian National University, the China Scholarship Council, and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
