Harriet graduated from the ANU with First Class Honours in her Bachelor of Philosophy and was awarded the University Medal for history. She went on to do a Masters in Global and Imperial History at the University of Oxford where she received the Beit Prize for the most outstanding dissertation. Harriet's passion for history is underpinned by the belief that the makeup of the contemporary world can only fully be understood by an investigation of its past. As a John Monash Scholar Harriet undertook a DPhil in History at the University of Oxford where she researched Australia’s climate history in a global context. Her research is interdisciplinary and combines historians’ traditional documentary sources with the more recent climate reconstructions being created by climate scientists. Harriet is currently working on the Leverhulme-funded 'Making Climate History Project', helping to write a new 200 year history of climate science. she is also a guest lecturer and tutor to students taking environmental and history of science courses.
