Claire has a Bachelor of Regional and Town Planning (1st Class Honours and the University Medal, and the Ministers Town Planning Prize) from the University of Queensland and with the John Monash Scholarship completed her Masters in Smart Cities and Urban Analytics at University College London. She has nearly a decade of professional urban planning experience in local government and consulting roles. Claire's interests lie in the application of big data analytics to the planning and management of cities. With a rare combination of qualifications in both computing and planning, Claire sees an urgent need for the Australian profession to get to grips with the newest wave of digital technology. She is currently completing her PhD at UNSW in order to devote substantial time to this problem. Claire is a champion fencer (2014 Australian Champion), go player and folk dancer. In addition to her work and studies Claire currently leads various urban technology initiatives with the Planning Institute of Australia and Smart Cities Council Australia New Zealand.
