Tom is completing his specialist training as a Urologist. As a 2011 John Monash Scholar, he was awarded a PhD in surgical robotics at The Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery based at Imperial College London. He received the Pickard Robotic Training Scholarship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2018. His current interests are in healthcare applications of artificial intelligence. This includes Learning Healthcare Systems, clinical decision support algorithms, automation of clinical coding and computer vision. He is the co-founder of an Adelaide based technology start-up company named Data Dissect that develops artificial intelligence driven software to enhance the quality and efficiency of healthcare.
