Michael is a diplomat with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University. He recently served in Lima, where he covered Australia’s political and economic interests in Peru and Bolivia and managed the Embassy’s public and media relations. Since joining the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2014, Michael has worked on trade agreements with Peru, Hong Kong, Indonesia and India, disarmament policy, and Australia’s relations with South America. He previously practised as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer in Sydney. Michael is pursuing an MBA to bring a deeper understanding of business to Australia’s economic diplomacy and help adapt it to a fast changing global economy.
