Veronica developed her interest in intellectual property law, where science and the law meet, while completing an Advanced Science (Hons I, majoring in molecular and cell biology)/Law (Hons I) degree at UNSW Sydney. During her studies, she was awarded both the University Medal in Law and the UNSW Law Valedictorian for 2020. She has worked as a lawyer at Allens and as an associate to the Hon Justice Stephen Burley in the Federal Court of Australia. Veronica plans to dedicate her career to the development of a system of Australian intellectual property law that adapts to advances in technology, promoting appropriate regulation and protection of intellectual property and thereby encouraging further innovation in Australian science and engineering. “With my science-law background, I want to shape Australian intellectual property law through legal practice and by contributing to academic discourse through articles, books, conferences and involvement in law reform.”
