Message from Jillian Segal AM, Chairman of the Foundation

On behalf of the Board of the General Sir John Monash Foundation I am delighted to announce the appointment of Annemarie Rolls as our new CEO effective February 1.

Annemarie brings excellent experience and skills to the Foundation. Most recently she was CEO of Schools Connect Australia, a not-for-profit which brought businesses together with disadvantaged schools. Annemarie led this organisation for 4 years, strengthening its marketing and economics and ultimately guiding its merger with the Australian Business Community Network (ABCN). She had previously worked with the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), including as General Manager and Publisher of ACER Press, overseeing 40 staff. She has degrees from South Carolina (Arts) and Monash University (Master of Communications) and has lived, worked and studied in Fiji, Indonesia and North America.

Annemarie joins the Foundation at an exciting time. Preparations are underway for the 2017 Presentation Ceremony with the Governor-General at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne on March 3rd. This will formalise and celebrate the selection of one of our most exciting and diverse groups of Scholars. The Foundation is also developing its alumni strategy and undertaking a number of other important initiatives which will consolidate its growing reputation as Australia’s outstanding postgraduate scholarship.

Over the last three months, the Foundation’s operations have been very capably managed by Halyer Rayner (Manager Finance & Operations), Judith Landsberg (Manager Scholarships), and former CEO Peter Binks (who acted as our interim CEO). I am very grateful to this team for their diligence, professionalism and commitment to the Foundation during this time.

The Foundation looks forward to introducing Annemarie to you in coming months.

With best wishes for 2017.

Kind regards,

Ms Jillian Segal AM
Chairman, General Sir John Monash Foundation
